It’s no secret that one of the keys to a good marketing campaign is through the use of video. Youtube is the second most used search engine and more video content is uploaded to the internet in a single month than network television has produced in three decades. According to Social Media Today, Facebook predicts that predicts that by 2020, over 75% of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video. Here’s another tip for the best on-camera presence:
No. 5️⃣ ️YOUR VOICE 🗣️
▶️ Use Your Natural Voice. Be yourself and speak to the camera like you would your best friend. Not only is it more natural, but you want your video to reflect who you are. A couple other tips on your voice:
🔹 Speak with a clear, “round,” full voice.
🔹 Don’t trail off at the end of your sentences or speak with vocal fry (a raspy “hoarse” voice).
▶️ Your Pace. Not only does your choice of words matter, but the pacing of your message counts. If you rush through your message, you tell the listener that what you’re saying doesn’t really matter.
▶️ Be Animated. When you allow yourself to be animated, you come across as genuine, enthusiastic and passionate.
▶️ Breathe. It’s easy to get caught up and forget to breathe. The end of each sentence is also a good place to take a breath. Breathe slowly and deeply which will also help keep an even pace. Practice breathing between sentences – it also allows a natural place for the editor to create a cut during production.
▶️ Be conversational. Don’t worry about being word perfect. Try to mimic natural speech, where we usually only emphasize one word per sentence.
▶️ Retake. Should you make a mistake, simply pause, take a breath and start again with the last sentence that you spoke.
